Hi there!
I’m Jane, and Charismatic Communications is my public relations agency, based in Canberra.
I’ve worked in communications for more than 15 years, and I established my agency in 2007. I’ve been busy ever since!
Through Charismatic Communications, my focus is working with small to medium sized businesses, start-ups and not-for-profit organisations.
I can help with a wide range of communications tasks – from writing copy for websites and publications to media relations, communication strategy development and implementation, to issues management, event coordination and much more.

Project Management
Development and coordination of specific events or communications tasks and projects as required. Examples may include launches, competitions, surveys and negotiating partnerships. Tell us what you need!
Communications Strategy
In consultation with you, we will research and develop a basic 12-month communications strategy that will outline goals, key messages and communications tactics that can be implemented by you or by us!
Media Training
A one-day workshop for up to 15 members of staff providing basic instruction in managing your own public relations, identifying and pursuing opportunities, and dealing with the media.
Media Releases
Research and write a one-page media release, distribute by e-mail to up to 25 media contacts. The distribution is followed up with one phone call to each media contact and the ‘chase list’ is handed over to you for further action as you see fit.
News or Feature Article
Research and write a news or feature article of up to 1,000 words in length, including conducting original interviews. Images are not included but can be arranged by negotiation.
Media Kit
Develop a comprehensive media kit for your business that may include a simple media release, fact sheet, backgrounder or staff member profile, list of story ideas and image gallery.
Website Content
Research and write polished and engaging copy for your website, including some basic advice on website layout and structure.
Lift Speech
Would you know how to quickly and accurately ‘spruik’ your organisation if you found yourself travelling in a lift for 30 seconds with your most important potential contact? Develop a short, succinct and captivating ‘lift speech’.
Annual Reports
From sourcing the required information from various sections without your organisation, to writing and formatting, liaising with external suppliers such as graphic designers, and finally, coordinating distribution.

How I work
I’ve established my public relations agency to return to the principle of customer service and the core purpose of public relations, which is helping you to communicate – whatever the environment in which you’re working.
I practice what I preach in my communication strategies! – I begin by considering what you need, then go about working out ways to deliver that for you. Learn more about my philosophy.
What’s in a name?
When I was trying to come up with a name for my public relations consultancy, I really liked the word ‘charismatic’; the sound of the word and the image it evoked. It just stuck with me.
After looking up the dictionary definition, I found out it meant: “1. able to lead and influence large numbers of people; 2. elicits a positive emotional response; 3. having a special quality of leadership that captures the popular imagination and inspires allegiance and devotion.”
I thought it was perfect for a public relations business!
It’s been my company name ever since and now, almost 10 years later, I’m as attached to it as ever! That dictionary definition is now a really important part of my branding as well.
